Applications for graduate study with the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources (E-IPER) is only accepted from:
- External applicants seeking a dual degree
- Students currently enrolled in any Stanford graduate degree program
Admissions questions are addressed in our FAQ section. Further questions should be directed to E-IPER's Student Services Officer and MIP Admissions.
External Applicants
The dual degree program requires admission to, and matriculation into, MIP as a first step. MIP students must be enrolled at Stanford for at least one quarter before applying to add the dual degree in E-IPER. As a reminder, the application deadline for the MIP program is generally in early January of the same year in which you intend to matriculate (e.g., early January 2026 application deadline for matriculation in September 2026). See the Graduate Admissions website for the annual deadline.
Current MIP Students
The dual program requires admission to E-IPER, and students should discuss their plans with both programs before applying. MIP students must be enrolled at Stanford for at least one quarter before applying to add the dual degree in environment and resources.
Deadlines
Rolling applications from current Stanford graduate students will be accepted prior to the January 30, 2026 deadline. Early submission of M.S. applications is encouraged. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance in late-February/early-March 2026. Accepted students must matriculate in Spring and all new students are required to enroll in ENVRES 280 during Spring Quarter 2026.
Application information is available on the E-IPER website.
Additional Information
There is no application fee to apply to the Dual MS. Matriculating students will pay a $125 fee when submitting a Graduate Authorization Petition in order to finalize the dual degree plan.
