Ran Guo

  • Master's in International Policy Class of 2026

Biography

Ran joins MIP as a student of data governance, intellectual history, and China, among others. Prior to MIP, he had work and research experiences at Harvard's Belfer Center, the UN Civil Society Unit, the Wilson Center, and Asia Society on these topics, after graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Tufts University.

Ran is broadly interested in 1) rethinking classical political theory concepts such as privacy, governmentality, and individuality in today's cyberspace governance regimes; 2) the varying national strategies to the immense yet under-explored data brokerage market; 3) any unheard-of story in the corners and trashcan of history; and 4) working on his civic education non-profit for students in China and beyond called Project Civitas. Aside from work, Ran has a passion for tea and traveling. If he's not replying to your messages, he's most likely in a tea house, airplane, or Cafe Venetia (where internet network barely exists).
