Biography

Haolie joins the MIP Program, drawing upon his extensive experience in Southeast Asian civil society and public policy. A 2024 Knight-Hennessy Scholar, Haolie aspires to amplify his work on labor rights, migration studies, and democratic development in the Asia-Pacific. 

Haolie has worked in government relations and strategic advisory at Edelman Global Advisory, specializing in labor protections in Southeast Asia. Haolie co-founded and leads the Community for Advocacy and Political Education (CAPE), Singapore’s first independent youth-led democracy-building organization aimed at civic literacy and capacity building. He has also led and supported research advocacy on migrant labor rights in Singapore with Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2) for nearly a decade. He graduated First Class Honours from Yale-NUS College with a bachelor’s degree in Global Affairs. He also received the Yale-NUS Outstanding Capstone Award for his undergraduate thesis on the elite identity politics of Sinicization in Singapore.
