Spies Like Us: The Promise and Peril of Crowdsourced Intelligence

In January, President Donald Trump’s supporters rampaged through the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to derail Congress’s certification of the 2020 presidential election results. Only a handful were arrested immediately. But many posted photos and videos on social media platforms. Amateur sleuths immediately took to Twitter, self-organizing to help law enforcement agencies identify and charge the rioters.
