IDL is part of the Stanford Institute for International Studies and was developed to offer Stanford courses in international security to undergraduate students at Russian universities. The program is a unique blend of interactive components in a distributed distance-learning environment. Its ultimate goal is to facilitate the rejuvenation of the social sciences and to further the study of critical thinking among university students in the Russian Federation.
