The Program on Arab Reform and Democracy (ARD) at CDDRL is pleased to announce the launch of an interview series titled “Conversations on Arab Reform and Democracy” (CARDs). CARDs is an outgrowth of ARD’s efforts to promote critical discussions around questions of political change, and social and economic rights in the Arab World. The series provides a forum for scholars to address timely, salient issues in public debates based on their recent publications and long-term research engagement.

Hosted by ARD Research Scholar and Associate Director Hesham Sallam, the launching episode brings to focus ongoing political developments in Tunisia and features Daniel Brumberg, associate-professor of Government at Georgetown University where he also serves as the director of the MA Program in Democracy and Governance. The conversation covers the recent power grab by President Kais Saied, its implications for various political actors in the country, the political legacies that are shaping the ongoing political conflicts, and more.
