POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Faculty Appointment in International Post-Secondary Education

The Stanford University School of Education (SUSE) and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) seek nominations and applications for a joint appointment in the broad area of international post-secondary education. FSI is Stanford’s primary center for interdisciplinary policy research on major international issues and serves as the hub for Stanford's International Initiative. This is a tenure-line position at the level of assistant professor or untenured associate professor.
Within the broad domain of international higher education, possible areas of specialization might include (but are not limited to): the changing nature of higher education in democratization and globalization; the role of higher education in shaping new societal leadership; higher education, corporate, and NGO relationships in the knowledge society; higher education reform in developing countries; and the impact of higher education reform on social, political, and economic transformation.
The successful candidate will contribute to SUSE’s programs in higher education as well as international and comparative education, and will participate actively in teaching and mentoring students in interdisciplinary initiatives campus-wide, according to her or his particular interests and expertise. In addition to robust programmatic research, responsibilities will include teaching and advising at the master's and doctoral levels. Involvement in undergraduate education is also a possibility. Within FSI, the successful candidate will be expected to lead interdisciplinary and international collaborations, and to build a policy research agenda in the area of higher education.
All candidates should have completed a doctorate before the date of appointment and show evidence of outstanding potential for research and teaching.
