FSE and SELF working to bring solar to the world
FSI Stanford, FSE in the news: The Energy Collective on April 18, 2011FSE's solar electrification drip irrigation project in Benin highlighted in piece on the Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) and its successful partnerships. The results of the project, studied and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, were clear: the PV-powered system increased food yields, which brought a chain of prosperity. Gates Foundation's Jeff Raikes and Cargill's Greg Page on improving global food security
FSI Stanford, FSE NewsFebruary 10th marked the launch of FSE’s Global Food Policy and Food Security Symposium series. Setting the stage for the two-year series were Jeff Raikes, CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Greg Page, CEO and Chairman of Cargill Inc. As CEOs from the largest foundation and the largest agricultural firm in the world they provided important perspectives on global food security in these particularly volatile times.

Second class of Global Health Corps completes training at Stanford
CHP/PCOR, FSI Stanford NewsThe second class of 38 Global Health Corps fellows is completing training at FSI to prepare for field assignments in global health care in the U.S. and in some of the world's poorest countries. Stanford Health Policy core faculty Paul Wise is one of the mentors. The Global Health Corps, founded by Barbara Bush and Stanford's Jonny Dorsey, seeks to double the number of fellows each year to reach 500. Jumpstarted by a $250,000 seed grant from Google.org, the Health Corps has raised almost $1.5 million for its programs through gifts from corporations, foundations, and individual donors. Read more »
