Garber comments in New York Times on debate about 'good' cholesterol
CHP/PCOR In the News: New York Times on March 15, 2004Recent and ongoing studies are calling into question doctors' long-held assertion that high levels of HDL (otherwise known as "good cholesterol") are always good and that HDL can counteract the so-called "bad cholesterol," LDL. In a March 15 New York Times article highlighting the studies and the debate they have sparked among physicians, CHP/PCOR director Alan M. Garber says that rather than looking exclusively at cholesterol levels, he favors considering the patient's overall risk profile, including lifestyle and family history.
